Built by a teacher and an exchange-program leader

EasyExchange is a CommonSky Group product and a member of eWorks, Esade's startup accelerator. It was founded by a Spanish teacher who is still in the classroom and a cultural exchange professional with more than a decade in international education, who together bring the language side and the cultural side of exchange to one platform.

Our Mission

EasyExchange exists to make authentic, structured classroom-to-classroom exchange possible for any teacher who wants it. We bring teacher verification, compliance, communication, and curriculum scaffolding into one tool designed from the ground up for secondary education.

We believe global understanding starts with relationships, and relationships start in the classroom. Every exchange we help run is a direct line between two teachers, two classrooms, two communities, bridging language, culture, and distance in ways a textbook can't. We want every student to have access to that experience, regardless of their ability to travel or their family's economic background.

We work for teachers. We design with teachers. And we measure our success by whether teachers can do this work without it consuming them.

Emily Marsh

Co-founder & CEO

Emily is a Spanish teacher with more than seven years in the classroom, most of it in high school. A school exchange in her own high school years set her path: a Spanish major with a secondary education track at UMass Amherst. In the years after the pandemic she watched student engagement fall. The “why learn Spanish” slide deck she showed every September stopped landing. She wanted her students to have what her exchange had given her, and knew most of them never would. In 2023 she started building an answer, first as a side project to learn UX design, then in earnest. She still teaches, so every product decision starts from a real classroom.

David Brown

Co-founder & President

David grew up with exchange students at the dinner table. His mother, a high school French teacher, ran her own exchange program, and at ten he made his first trip to northern France. He didn't set out to make a career of it. He started as a photographer, and a friendship with international interns in his building pulled him into the field. More than a decade later, he has managed BridgeUSA J-1 programs, led inbound high school exchanges, and helped bring hundreds, if not thousands, of students to the US. He and his wife have hosted four exchange students. What keeps him in it is the human part: the friendships, the stories, and the shift in perspective that comes from seeing your own world through someone else's eyes. He brings that, and the program side, to EasyExchange.

Our Story

EasyExchange started with Emily. A school exchange in high school shaped her path into teaching Spanish, but the school where she taught did not offer one, and starting an exchange stayed on her list. Teaching remotely during COVID, she saw how some digital tools kept students engaged. Back in person, engagement dropped, and the "why learn Spanish" pitch stopped landing. In 2023 she began building an answer, first as a project to learn UX design, then in earnest.

David came to the same idea from the program side. After years running exchange programs, he had seen who gets to take part in an exchange and who does not. The two met while working at a nonprofit supporting international high school students on the J-1 visa program. When they reconnected later, David asked to join.

Together they cover both halves of an exchange: Emily the language, David the culture. EasyExchange is built for the realities of secondary education, with verification, compliance, and teacher control designed in, so the only thing teachers and students focus on is the exchange itself. The first pilot runs in October 2026 with high schools in the US and Europe.
